How to migrate values from one Jira field to another in the same issue

If you have Jira issues that have a field populated, then you want to move or copy the value of one field to another.

This process requires Jira administrator privileges.

Step-by-step guide

1. Search for the issues you would like to update
2. Export all of the impacted issues using Export...CSV (All fields) using comma as the delimiter
   

   

3. Edit the CSV file populating the field to update
4. Save and close the CSV file
5. Go to Admin...System...Import and Export...External System Import
6. Select CSV
7. Choose your file
8. Take the defaults and click Next
9. For the project, choose Defined in CSV (unless custom field context)
10. Mapping the Issue Key and Summary field is required (If you don't map issue key, it will create new issues)
11. Click Next
